Thank you David Carr (New York Times) for raising the question of value and worth in investigative reporting.
it does appear that more and more facts or at least good guesses are coming from the unbridled, unpaid or nonprofit "press" sources. And really, now the public has three choices to keep informed and make the decisions that guide their daily lives: for-profits, nonprofits and, the public. I say hooray!
We can't always trust the for-profit press -- they are after all supported by the very capitalist enterprises that are seeking little more than to feed off their readers (or at least move their readers to action - buying their products).
The nonprofits pursue their own missions but they too are subsidized by someone who at one point or another gained off the capitalist unequal distribution of wealth.
And finally there are individuals, with clear agendas minus all the resources that could make them more formidable but over time they too might join the ranks of either the for profit or nonprofit.
Fine system and one appreciate.
Thanks Readers!! The number of folks reading this blog has grown steadily. Unfortunetly, this blog host is not able to handle the traffic and I have moved my blog.
