A little story in the NY Times today told of how the Associated Press is in the process of realigning itself for the future with a focus on increased editorial efficiency in addition to other efforts.
A quote of particular interest from the A.P.'s VP of Strategic Planning said: "The A.P.’s nonprofit status means it does not have to worry about falling stock prices and testy shareholders. But like any business, it depends on income for its survival, and is looking more toward advertising for revenue, Mr. Kennedy said."
So this is the reason to be a nonprofit and where does the mission fit in?
