According to Reuters, the CFO of One Laptop for All is opening up her own for-profit to produce a $75 laptop (that's $25 cheaper).
Who says the market isn't working! First a nonprofit gets the big guys to think about how to produce an affordable computer. Now, someone from within the nonprofit is motivated to do the same and not through a nonprofit vehicle.
Here lies proof that when the market works well, it really works and the role of a nonprofit, to fill the void left by the for-profit and public sectors - well, here's proof of the idea!

Thanks Readers!! The number of folks reading this blog has grown steadily. Unfortunetly, this blog host is not able to handle the traffic and I have moved my blog. Please check out (and bookmark) my new location http://www.nonprofitboardcrisis.typepad.com Thanks for helping to make this a success!! My mission: to change the world one nonprofit at a time. I fix broken nonprofits with a focus on resolving nonprofit board/exec relationships. I also help nonprofit boards and staff figure out where they want their organization to be in the future and focus on the four columns of a nonprofit: program, management and operations, governance and sustainability.
