If ever there was a gap in nonprofit management it's with church ministers. Here is a group of folks who have the best of intentions with, for the most part, pure hearts, asked to do a bunch of jobs of which they are prepared for two (spiritual ministry and for many, counseling).
One area that most are least prepared for is managing -- fiscal, sustainability, operations, and governing (especially volunteer management).
Villanova has an answer with a new MBA that will award a degree in church management.
This is something every denomination should incorporate with a special attention to governance -- getting church leadership to be accountable and know how to provide fiduciary oversight.
Ah, hope is on the rise.

Thanks Readers!! The number of folks reading this blog has grown steadily. Unfortunetly, this blog host is not able to handle the traffic and I have moved my blog. Please check out (and bookmark) my new location http://www.nonprofitboardcrisis.typepad.com Thanks for helping to make this a success!! My mission: to change the world one nonprofit at a time. I fix broken nonprofits with a focus on resolving nonprofit board/exec relationships. I also help nonprofit boards and staff figure out where they want their organization to be in the future and focus on the four columns of a nonprofit: program, management and operations, governance and sustainability.
